I Finally found a use for the Semicolon

I love the semi colon. I think that the reason we don't use it so much these days is because we are too lazy - I blame meily Dickenson for the dash.

I, too, LOVE the semicolon! I always get told off for using it too much in my essays - but there's a place for it everywhere. There is never a dull moment that can't be spiced up be a semi-colon here or there.. *sigh*

I've also been inconsistent in my spelling of the phrase semi colon for which I apologise; my spelling and grammar has taken a turn for the worse since I became an employee of retail.

wow - two defenders of the semicolon!

i just had a look on wikipedia. apparently the earliest use of the semicolon was in 1591. the comma, or rather the proto-comma on the other hand has been around since 3RD century BC.

my, truly a wondrous world we live in ...
